I wish I'd kept up with my blog now especially with what I've got to say compared with my last post. Anyway, here's a paste of a post I posted on a forum a few months ago:
Not a replacement for Boo but we decided that we had room and resources to give a good home to at least one new rat. We were going to get one from the RSPCA but there were no rehoming centres near enough.

There's a reputable petshop near us where I got the mice and where my partner and I sometimes go and have a good "awwww" at the animals. A couple of weeks ago we went and they had 2 *huge* adult rats in there, obviously two that wouldn't sell. They were really fat, presumably from being stuck in a tiny cage all day. They looked so *bored*. We discussed it and decided to go back with view to giving them a home (if they were still there) as we figured it was unlikely they would get one at their age.

The rats were 6 months old. Bit older than we would have liked but we were glad to discover that they don't just dispose of animals they can't sell when they are babies. We were concerned about the rats' personalities though, with them having spent 6 months in a petshop.

When we held them they were immediately sold. They were so sweet and friendly. One even curled up and went to sleep in my partner's arms! The other one was a bit more inquisitive and lively and tried to steal my new bracelet, the little scamp.

Anyway that's a very long and rambly way of saying I've got two more adorable rats! Hooray!! I've called them Hansel and Derek (watch the film Zoolander :o) ) and I love them to bits. Minsc is very curious about them and I might try introducing them when Derek and Hansel are used to their new home.

Derek died from Pneumonia this morning. I'll miss him so much. Rest in peace Derek.

I went skiing last week and was going to write about it but unsurprisingly don't feel like it now.
