Well lots to say. In fact I have posted the first bit, but the second bit about the wedding is ongoing.
Rest in peace my handsome little guy, Minsc, who died of old age on Sunday October the 8th. You were my first ever rat and my first pet not with the parents. I still miss you terribly and the things you did such as the following:
- Stole anything you could carry and hid it under the couch
- Tried to steal anything you couldn't carry and drag it as far as you could couchwards
- The triumphant, gleeful look on your face when you managed to steal a piece of fruit from my bag
- The "brp brp brpp" noise you always made
- The way you sat next to Katinka's cage, washing nonchalantly, while she jumped up and down and hissed at you
- Fluffed yourself up and made yourself as flat as you possibly could when you didn't want to be picked up
- Climbed onto my shoulder from the floor while I was vertical
- Sat on my feet when I was trying to make breakfast
I'm sure there's more. It's now over a month and I still miss him terribly.

Only a few more days and then I will be married. Criminy.
Well for me the whole organising a wedding thing has been a very bitter and unpleasant experience. I won't even begin to go over some of the little annoyances because I'll just get so angry again. I'll just stick to the main ones. I hate all the expense, most of which is completely unneccessary. I hate the way people whack an extra chunk of cash to the price of anything if they know it's for a wedding, even though the service will be exactly the same, and I hate the way we are constantly being criticised for doing it our way and actually thinking about whether to have each thing rather than just blindly going along with what everyone tells us we ought to have.
"You *must* have [expensive and pointless item]", "Why?", "Because it's just *done*"
Just listen to yourselves.
We don't happen to think our wedding is going to be any less of an occasion because: 1) We're not riding the whole 5 minutes it takes to get to the venue in posh cars 2) There'll be no dead animals 3) We're not paying a fortune for some uppity noo-meeja type to arse up our photos 4) We're not spending a fortune on flowers we'll see for half an hour
Why can't certain people just accept this?
Having said all that, I'm sure the day itself will be fun and I'm quite looking forward to it except the gut-wrenching terror of walking down the aisle with everyone looking at me.
The hen night was fabulous and all thanks to Leanne (who probably doesn't read this anyway) for arranging it. Brighton is a scary, scary place to walk around looking like some sort of deranged fairy in a lara croft costume with a pink wand and a veil! Restaurants that change their name without telling anyone are unsurprisingly hard to find too. I'll write more soon. There may be photos.
