I went to see the Lion King in London at the weekend. Next time I see a show at the west end, I'm going to leave no 5 hours early. It doesn't seem to matter how intricately I plan my journey, something always goes wrong and I end up 5 minutes late.

Of course, sod's law dictates that in that case I will get there 4 hours early and be bored.

Splendid show though. I was completely blown away.

I'm getting married in a couple of months (*gibber*) and yes, I will get the invites out at some point.

It has been a very long, interesting and, in some parts, bitter journey preparing for a wedding.

First of all most of the focus of preparing for marriage, at least for the bride is supposed to be getting manicures, pedicures, having the best "skincare routine" (October?! you should have started exfoliating in at least January, darling!) and all that bollocks. No mention of such things as "discuss with your fiancee about how both of you see your marriage working" or any of that. In fact, barely any mention of the actuall marriage at all. No. To ensure my eternal future happiness with the one I love, it is vitally important that I WEAR THE RIGHT LIPSTICK AT THE WEDDING. Apparently. If I have the wrong hair or have a single spot, the groom and several guests are going to run screaming.

Secondly, apparently, it is supposed to be "my day". Matt is nothing more than a glorified extra.

Don't get me started on "centrepieces".

I probably underestimated the amount of work for my challenge - not much room for error! Rather than not meet my target and feel an utter lowlife worthless failure, I have decided to follow in the footsteps of many great politicians and move the goalposts. I shall now give myself 8 weeks to do this, instead of 4. I don't feel too much of a wuss as the whole point is to get me exercising regularly.

1578 to go now. I intended to do many more lengths last night but I got bloody cramp didn't I? Didn't want to risk drowning or looking a tit so I went into the jacuzzi instead.

Saw a jolly splendid film the other night. "A Tale of Two Sisters". It's a Korean horror film. I didn't realise it was a horror else I wouldn't have tried it but I'm glad I watched it nevertheless. Watch it, g'wan.

Last week I decided to swim the channel. Ok well not actually the channel. I don't think I could take the cold or the jellyfish or all the training or do it all in one go...

However I worked out that it would be approximately 1680 (!!) lengths of the pool. I intended to start today and to finish it by the 17th August. I nearly didn't start today but I thought it might be better than moping around here and it would be a good way to vent some of my misery.

Now I need to do a further 1620

Well this is becoming more like an obituary column than a blog, isn't that nice.

My little adventurer, George, died last night. I'll miss him loads too.

My mouse, Bungle, died yesterday aged 19 months. It came as a bit of a shock even though he had seemed to be slowing down lately.

He was such a special little guy. So small, even for a mouse, but with so much character. I'm going to miss him so much. It was so strange to see his brothers playing this morning and for him not to be there.
